PricingThe items in our Philips Norelco Multigroom 7000 review ranged in price from $20 to $54. The less expensive models had shorter run times on a full charge and came with fewer accessories. The more expensive models had accessories that allowed them to be efficient trimmers for the head, beard, and body. One trimmer included a separate razor blade as part of the purchase price. The more expensive trimmers featured a durable, stainless steel construction that was attractive and held up to considerable abuse. All the trimmers in our review came with charging cables. |

Philips Norelco Multigroom 7000No products found. Ease of Use The Philips Norelco Multigroom 7000 is a small, nimble device with a no-slip grip that eliminates the possibility that you might accidentally drop the product even when the handle gets wet. The self sharpening blades always provide a clean cut with no nicks or tugging. The Lithium Ion battery is recharged by plugging a cable into the bottom of the unit. Although we would have preferred a charging cradle, the plug-in charger is effective and does not take up much space. The guards and attachments are easy to remove and replace. Overall, we found this to be a very convenient and effective trimmer. Design Quality The Philips Norelco Multigroom 7000 is easy to hold, operate, charge, and maintain. The device is durable and will withstand an accidental drop from shoulder height. There are a lot of attachments which improve the product’s versatility but also require a large amount of shelf space in your washroom. The storage bag is nice, but we would have preferred a more organized tray to keep track of all the accessories. This is a no-nonsense trimmer that allows you to touch up your appearance with no frustration or cuts. The body guards work great for trimming intimate areas. Warranty The Philips Norelco Multigroom 7000 comes with a full two-year warranty. No products found. |
Philips Norelco Multigroom All-In-One Series 3000No products found. The Philips Norelco Multigroom All-In-One Series 3000 is a head and beard trimmer only. The body shape is a similar size to the Multigroom 7000, but features a black rubber rather than stainless steel construction. The unit weighs 0.6 pounds and gives you one hour of run time on a full charge. The purchase price includes 23 attachments for precision work on your hair, beard and body. There is a full-size trimmer, detailer, nose and ear trimmer, 3 cutting guards, 3 beard guards, and a stubble trimming guard. The unit also comes with a storage bag, battery, and charger. Ease of Use We preferred the appearance of the 7000, but the 3000 is a very nice trimmer. The metal cutting head is self-sharpening and provides a good cut without nicks or tugging. The attachments are very good for the face and hair, but there are no trimming guards for the body. We do not recommend this trimmer as a full body trimmer. The run time is only 60 minutes, which is sufficient for most purposes. Design Quality It is easy to operate, clean and maintain this trimmer. The attachments slip on and off with ease and the guards are effective and allow you to trim with precision and zero risk of nicks. The no-slip grip ensures you can operate this trimmer with no accidental drops. This is a good choice if you are looking for an economical beard and hair trimmer but do not have a need for a body trimmer. Warranty The Philips Norelco Multigroom All-In-One Series 3000 comes with a full two-year warranty and also includes a 45 day risk-free trial period. No products found. |
Philips Norelco Multi Groomer 5000 SeriesNo products found. The Philips Norelco series 5000 features a similar stainless steel and rubber body design as the series 7000. The 5000 weighs approximately 0.75 pounds and comes with 18 accessories for precision trimming of the head, face and body. The steel blades are self sharpening and are designed to operate at a consistent quality for years of use. The trimmer operates for 3 hours on a single charge and charges through a cord that is included with the purchase price. Ease of Use The Philips Norelco series 5000 is a very similar product to the Multigroom 7000 but does not have the foil shaver and has a shorter running time. The device is easy to handle, operate and maintain. You can easily rinse off all the components in the shower, and the self-sharpening blades are consistently sharp even after months of use. The series 5000 is a great choice if you’re looking for an inexpensive shaver for your whole body. Design Quality The series 5000 is lightweight and features a non-slip surface that helps you maintain your grip even when wet. The accessories slipped on and off with ease and charging is easy. This is an attractive, durable unit that will hold up to normal usage and can withstand low impact drops. The unit is effective on body hair, but we preferred the body guards provided with the series 7000. A slightly more expensive model is available that features an attractive travel case. Warranty The Philips Norelco Multi Groomer 5000 Series comes with a full two-year warranty. No products found. |
Braun BeardTrimmerNo products found. The Braun Beard Trimmer BT5065 has a slightly larger body than the Norelco trimmers. The unit charges through a cord and provides 100 minutes of running time on a full charge. There is also a 5 minute quick charge feature and the option for corded operation. This set comes with two combs that offer a variety of length settings. The short comb offers a length range of 1-10mm and the long comb offers a length range of 11-20mm. The length is adjusted by a dial on the unit. The device is fully washable and the purchase price also includes a razor. Ease of Use We found the Braun BeardTrimmer BT5065 to be bulky and less nimble to operate than the Norelco trimmers. The body is made from plastic which is more susceptible to cracks and scratches. We liked the thumb adjustment on the short and long comb, but found the combs were not ideal for use on the head or body. There is no storage back. The minimal number of accessories means this unit does not take up a lot of counter space, but the accessories are not as effective for trimming. We liked the charging cable, which offered the option of cord powered operation. Design Quality We experienced more tugging with the Braun BeardTrimmer, and we were less impressed with the blades. The plastic body design makes this unit less durable and less attractive. It is difficult to clean clippings out of the adjustable short and long combs. The thumb control which allows you to adjust the comb length without swapping out accessories makes it easy to get a quick shave. Packaging this trimmer with a standard razor seemed like an odd marketing choice. Warranty The Braun BeardTrimmer BT5065 comes with a two-year limited warranty. No products found. |
Conclusion |
Any of the trimmers featured in our Philips Norelco Multigroom 7000 would make a good choice depending on your personal grooming needs. If you have no need for a full-body trimmer, the Braun BeardTrimmer and the Philips 3000 series would both make excellent choices. The Braun offers precision control with its adjustable combs, and the 3000 was the most economical trimmer that we tested. We preferred the cutting head and the ergonomics of all the Norelco trimmers to the Braun.
The Philips
The Multigroom 7000 had the best variety of features and the longest running time of the units we tested. We liked the quality of the accessories that slipped on and off the cutting head with ease and did not get bogged down with clippings. Both the trimmer itself and the accessories can be rinsed clean, and the stainless steel body is attractive and durable. Our only complaint about the trimmers in the Norelco line was that they do not feature a storage or charging tray to help keep track of all the accessories. However, we preferred the multi-piece accessories to the two adjustable combs of the Braun.
The metal blades of the Multigroom 7000 cut coarse and fine hair with no bogging down or pulling. The self-sharpening blades remained very sharp and showed no signs of dulling even after several months of use. The motor has sufficient power to operate the cutting head without draining the battery. The battery charges easily and provides a long enough run time for convenient usage. We liked the foil shaver and the ear and nose accessories that aren’t available on more economical units. The Multigroom 7000 is a trimmer designed to attend to all your trimming needs with the greatest comfort and efficiency.
